Genealogical Resources

Genealogy is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the country.  We are so fortunate that our

new office addition allows us to better serve those who are seeking genealogy information.

We have volunteers who will do research.

For said services, a free will offering to the Society or the purchase

of a Sibley County Historical Society membership is requested.

If you are interested in doing your own research, an appointment can be made

for a volunteer to be available to assist you.   Genealogy requests must be made

by calling the Museum and leaving a message.

If there is no answer, leave a message including your name and phone number and a volunteer

will call you back. You may also send in your request via email here.

The fee for this service is $10.00 per hour plus $.50 per copy of requested material. Please note

that our minimum payment for documents is $1.00. Up to two documents may be purchased

for $1.00. Payments are only made in $1.00 increments.

We regret that we cannot offer online payments for Services, such as genealogical research, due to prohibitive fees required by our website provider to add the capability to take online payments for services.

As such, payments for volunteer research (or documents) may be made by check to

Sibley County Historical Society

(Please write Genealogical Services in the memo line of the check.)

Products, such as document requests, fall under a different website fee structure, so online payments are accepted. You may pay via the button below which will take you to our products page. The first product

listed will pertain to documents. Please note: there will be a $5.00 per order S&H fee if mailed. If picking up at the Historical Society in Henderson, please pay by cash or check at the time of pickup and no S&H will be charged.

Minnesota Gen

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. This lead to the USGenWeb project of which Minnesota is a part.
